Ukrainians who left for Europe during the war have the right to live and work in the European Union for up to three years in accordance with the emergency plan. The European Union provides for the right of Ukrainian citizens and residents to live, work, receive medical care, housing and education immediately for up to one year, without the need for lengthy asylum procedures.
“Europe stands by those who need protection,” said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. – Everyone who is fleeing Putin’s bombs is happy in Europe. We will protect asylum seekers and help those who are looking for a safe way home. “
Now Ukrainians:
– get the opportunity to live in the EU for a year with a further extension of up to three years;
– can officially get a job or start their own business after agreement with the institution for foreigners;
– receive financial assistance, as well as – funds for housing (also applies to rented from individuals);
– receive health insurance and education.
According to Dubravka Shuica, Vice-President of the European Commission for Democracy and Demography, countries that accept refugees can use funds from the EU budget to provide psychological assistance and counseling to children, as well as to care for orphans. EU Commissioner for Home Affairs Ilva Johansson said that more than 160,000 Ukrainian refugee children now go to school in the EU. This is despite the fact that there are already about two million of them. Therefore, she called on EU countries to work more actively on education for children from Ukraine. According to her, the European Commission is ready to publish textbooks in Ukrainian.
